What will the Hampshire and the Solent Combined County Authority (HSCCA) do?
The Hampshire and the Solent Combined County Authority, known as HSCCA, brings together Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Portsmouth City Council and Southampton City Council to make strategic decisions for the whole region.
HSCCA focuses on regional challenges and opportunities including transport, economic development, housing, skills, public safety, health and wellbeing, the environment, culture, and rural and coastal communities. Local councils continue to manage day-to-day services for their communities.
From May 2028, HSCCA is scheduled to be led by a directly elected Mayor. Until then, the Authority operates through its Board arrangements.
Role of HSCCA
The role of HSCCA is to give the region greater control over strategic decisions that are best taken across council boundaries, coordinating investment, infrastructure and public services where functions have been conferred on the Authority.
